2020: Our Beginnings

Maison Khu started in the beginning of 2020 in the outskirts of Sydney on Broad Street. Having always been fascinated by handcrafted leather goods, our leathercrafter Khu, was one who looked past the branding of many luxury leather good makers. Many brands on the market charge a massive premium for subpar leather products due to their branding and European origin. Our journey began on Etsy where we set up a small shop offering handmade cardholders. Our Etsy shop can be found by clicking here.

As a leathercrafter who was self-taught through observing the intricacies of independent high-end leather crafters, "K" combines the elegance of French-style leathercrafting with the more rugged look of Japanese-style leathercrafting.

2021, 2022 & 2023: Standard designs & Apple Watch Straps

With the growing demand of Apple watches, Maison Khu's focus has shifted from purely crafting custom leather goods to also offering a core range of products such as Apple Watch Straps. With many cheap leather strap options on the market, we noticed a lack of higher quality leather Apple watch straps.

One of the quality providers is Hermes which produces official watch straps for Apple, however, at exorbitant prices. By sourcing leathers directly from the tanneries supplying Hermes and other large brands, we are able produce handcrafted straps without the significant brand premium.

2024 & Beyond: Leather Goods

We hope to expand our core range of products to include more small leather goods such as wallets and clutches, as well as craft larger projects such as briefcases and handbags.
